Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 June 2026
This policy explains what personal data this website collects, how it is used, and your rights. The site is fosterfletcher.com, run by Richard Foster-Fletcher (referred to here as "I" and "me"). I am the data controller. For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].
What I collect
If you register interest in the book The AI Gap, I collect the email address you provide on the interest form. If you contact me through the site or by email, I collect your name, your email address, and the content of your message. For general traffic measurement I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies, does not track individuals, and does not collect personal data. My hosting and network providers also process limited technical data, such as IP addresses, briefly, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Why I use it, and the lawful basis
I use book-interest emails to let you know about the book and related updates. The lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form, and you can withdraw it at any time. I use contact messages to read and respond to your enquiry. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in replying to people who get in touch. I process limited technical data to operate and protect the site, on the basis of legitimate interest. I do not sell your data, and I do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
Who processes data on my behalf
The site relies on third parties who act as processors: Replit for website hosting and the database, Cloudflare for content delivery, DNS, and cookieless analytics, and Google Workspace for email. Some of these providers are based in the United States, so your data may be transferred outside the UK. Where that happens, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or recognised data-transfer frameworks.
How long I keep it
I keep book-interest emails until the book is published, or until you ask to be removed, whichever comes first. I keep contact messages for as long as I need to deal with your enquiry, and a reasonable period afterwards.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the data I hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email [email protected], and I will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how I handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
I may update this policy from time to time. The date above shows when it was last changed.
